Post-Vacation Cleanse

Last week, I was on a working vacation in Orlando. It was awesome as most vacations are, but I ate entirely too much! We had a $35 limit for each meal… so you know I ate everything I possibly could lol. By the end of my trip, I was bloated and sick. I decided to try a 3 day cleanse to help me get rid of that feeling and jump start my return to the gym.

I found this cleanse on Pinterest and apparently it’s Dr. Oz approved, so I gave it a shot. It consists of 3 vegan smoothies per day, as well as a detox bath each night. I’m not a big fan of baths since I share a bathroom, so I left that part out. I wrote down how I was doing each day so you’ll know what to expect if you try it.

Breakfast smoothie. It also included a frozen banana (not shown).

The lunch smoothie ingredients. I was so excited... But it's so gross :-(

Day 1

I clearly didn’t do the cleanse correctly. I woke up too late for breakfast so I skipped right on to lunch. The lunch drink is disgusting, btw. Just for future reference, it SHOULD NOT be a smoothie. Use a juicer or strain it before drinking. I spent most of the day sipping that concoction and drinking tons of water. I think the water helped me curb my hunger.
Weight: 165 (NO CHANGE)

Day 2

The breakfast smoothie is so much better than the lunch one! I’m broke (a.k.a. cheap) so I skipped out on the flax seeds and almond butter, but it was still delicious! I paired it with a cup of green tea and I feel so energized! I skipped the lunch smoothie because I cannot handle the taste again… The dinner smoothie is ok. I just wish it didn’t call for so much mango. It’s good, but the mango taste is very strong.
Weight: 162 (-3 lbs)

Day 3

I’m so tired! The only thing keeping me from frying some eggs and bacon this morning is all the food I’m gonna eat on the Fourth! Also, the fact that I’m 3 pounds down helps.  I think I’ll start every morning with a cup of green tea because it gives me a jolt of energy without the coffee crash. Once again, I refused to make the lunch drink again (and I never ever will). I did cheat a little bit because I had a salad for dinner. Oh well, I had to eat something!
Weight: 160 (-5 lbs)

Overall, the cleanse was successful! I feel lighter and my stomach is so much flatter. I weighed myself again the next morning and I was down another pound. I lost a total of 6 pounds of water weight, which is great! I’m about 1/3 of the way to my goal of 15 pounds and I did it in 3 days! I will definitely do this again, especially after a vacation or just an unhealthy binge. I might need to do it again after I eat all of these Fourth of July leftovers :-)
